Although it seems simple, there is really alot of technique and timing behind jumping, and also several different ways to jump. For best performance I reccomend using left mouse for jump and right for primary attack. Out of a pluthera of control configurations I have found this to be the most flexible. Of course that is mere suggestion. On to the jumps.
Non force jump
This jump is your basic hop. You will not use any of your force bar, and you will only tap your jump key. This is good for dodging swings, getting a better angle on an attack, and for moving across maps quickly.
Force jump
The force jump is your standard high jump. If you are just starting, chances are that this is the only jump you are familiar with. It consumes force over time depending on how long you hold it down.
Flip jump
Flip jumps are what they sound like. A force jump generally will have a flip attached to it when you start it in motion. This flipping allows you to have significantly more control over your jump than ou normally would. You can even change direction in the middle of your jump if you do it right.
Wall run
This move is technically not a jump, but it involves jumping. If you run straight at a wall and click jump about three steps before ou hit the wall, and then again when you hit the wall, you should start running up the wall. This run will continue until either you reach the top of the wallrun, or you release your forward button.
Wall strafe
This move is reminicent of the matrix. If you stand next to a wall , run diagonally into it ( AW or WD ) and hit jump, you should begin running across the wall horizontally. It is useful for escaping, and timing attacks.
Glide
The glide is one of the harder jumps to perform. While running, release your direction key(s) and instantly after that do a force jump. If performed right, your character will "glide". This will be useful in some of the following lessons, so be sure that you can do it before moving on.
Crouch jump
This is a jump I know very little about but I will do my best to explain it. If you jump and hold crouch at the top of your swing, your characters animation will not change, but you will have a smaller area that is able to recieve damage, and will be able to fit through smaller openings. Variations of this move can even be used to enter glitches in some maps, making it possible to jump through ceilings or walls. You will notice that the camera angle drops down a bit, but the character animation stays the same. You will not be able to continue upwards after you hit crouch.
I will post a demonstration of all of the above. Be sure to master them before moving on.
