I recently realized that I forgot one to add a very important delay to the mix. The standard Red delay. Knowing this delay is not only useful in Red combat, but also very useful when trying to learn the Left Delay for Dual Sabers and Staff.
If you recall our earlier lessons, you will remember the three parts of a swing. The backswing, the hit zone, and the followthrough.
There is actually a fourth part of a swing that is negligible most times, unless you are trying to do a delay. The recovery.
Recovery comes after the followthrough, as your saber is returning to its static (upright) position. This is when a delay is performed.
Swing normally, and wait until the recovery to hold attack back down to continue your combo. This will result in the illusion that you are only swinging once, and your attacker will move in for the kill, only to find that your saber is going to lash out at the last possible second and hit them.
I will post a demonstration of the Standard Delay below.
